A Rebirth or an Evolution?

Earlier this week, Amazon made a BIG error. They sent out 500 copies of Lil' Wayne's new 'rock album', Rebirth, despite its release date being postponed to February 1st 2010.

It remains to be seen whether this will affect album sales and whether Wayne himself will change the tracklist for the official release.

It is presumed Wayne wanted the album to be released to coincide with his prison sentence as to maximise his exposure during a time of incarceration when he will have very little.

The actual album itself (don't ask how i obtained a copy, and i'll tell you no lies) is suprisingly addictive. The tracks aren't immediately impressive, but make you want to hear it again. And in doing so, you find the tracks grow on you.

There was a worry that Wayne wouldn't stray to far into the rock genre and would just play around with guitar riffs etc, those worrying needn't of bothered. He goes in, and goes in hard. Harsh vocals, harsh electric guitar, harsh drums. Its all there. And it works.

The biggest track of note is 'Drop the world' and features Eminem. This looks like the albums signature track as the label have made a concerted effort to clamp down on the sharing of this track in particular.

Heres one of the best tracks called 'Knockout' featuring Nicki Minaj:
