2009

I havent written anything in a long while. Its amazing how ones life can suddenly pick up pace without any noticeable warning. I have been working really hard at university to try and get a degree of some quality, but when i think back, thats a lie. I haven't worked really hard, but it feels like it. God knows how those other 'good' students manage it.

Anyway, enough excuses. Basically, I was contemplating deleting the blog. I can't see the point in having this taking up web space when nobody really looks or updates it. However, the proactive side of me (the one with a halo and wings) decided to just post and put the feeling to delete off a little longer.

So here I am. Looking back through the posts its quite humbling. Seeing, the promises my friends and I made to each other at the start of the year, to make this about 'the boys'. Seeing that fail. Seeing myself post a list of my perfect woman, thinking it would never be met. Seeing that succeed. Seeing me post new opportunities for writing, then seeing myself quit them.

I realised that this blog serves a massively important purpose. I know ultimately no one reads it, but its a record, its something to remind me where I have been and to write where I am going.

I cant believe this years nearly over, its been one of the best years of my life. The first half had some of the funniest moments I can recall, which has been complicated into a video already - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH6mbWwyMxI - (shameless plug). The second half, has cemented some friendships further, lost many more, found an amazing person, lost many insignificant.

Two contrasting half's of a year, that has been both juxtaposed and intense but thoroughly enjoyable throughout. I've partied hard, relaxed harder. Worked a lot, slept a lot more. Been to Rome. Seen the birth of two beautiful babies. Seen an idol perform. Seen another NFL game. Watched my favourite comedian live. Played the best football of my life. Found the love of my life *cough, Adam, cough*, and this girl called L. (hehe :P)

So, heres to 2010, which I've heard is Gina Harrison's and Atem Eyong aka Jay Breezy's year. So, I've had mine, heres to you guys, i wish you all the best, invite me to the after parties.

The Life and Times of TO

This post has no particular direction or message other than to update you all on the fact i'm rather happy.

I'm currently riding one of those waves where everything is going right. I'm working hard and being rewarded and it feels exceptional.

• I have finally found a paying job, unlike freelancing writing it seems. So i'm paying bills.
• I have found the woman of my dreams and couldn't be happier right now.
• I have a lot of things to look forward too; New football season, New American football season, Michael McIntyre gig, Lil' Wayne gig, NFL game in London, MY 21st BIRTHDAY, the tattoo i'm getting. The list is endless.
• I have been chosen to write for my universities blog about careers and my path trying to find one in final year, which not only helps my writing career but also makes me get off my **** and go do it.
• I'm seeing who are good friends and getting quite tight with people who if you'd have asked me 4 years ago I probably would have said "yeah right" (check his blog - http://theatembomb.blogspot.com/)

I just feel like i'm growing up and finally using some of my limitless potential to make waves in this world and be somebody. Its not my time yet, but my time is coming, soon I'll give you all a reward for believing in me.

Turblent Thursday

Last night while at my local nightclub haunt everyone caught news of Michael Jackson's passing and instantly went into mourning. Firstly, i don't really understand all the fuss myself but this was the same when Princess Diana died. I guess I don't really empathize with rich and famous people. In the toilets i had to argue with someone when I heard them saying "he was only 50, it just shows how precious life is"...I kindly pointed out that many thousands of non-famous people, a lot younger than that die everyday also.

I also woke up yesterday morning to find news that Farrah Fawcett had passed. I've never heard of her before and I can't say i shed a tear, but now i feel compelled to send her some love. R.I.P Farrah, you must be really mad up there that when the day of judgment arrived, MJ had to take your shine.

On a serious note, I played basketball yesterday too....but nodoby cares about that with all this MJ news :(

I feel the first thing i should do is explain the title. I was pointed in the direction of a new piece of software by Nobby Nutkins (his excellent and hilarious blog - http://nobbynutkins.blogspot.com/) that tells me where people have clicked onto my site and where they left to, this excellent program is highly arousing to someone like me and I get excited when i see that people in Florida, Kenya, Sweden, Massachusetts and Canada read my blog.

However, this is slightly short lived when i see that someone from Bayern in Germany found my site using google to search 'Hookers'...(see previous article on such topic). I can only hope this person found my article entertaining and informative...although one wonders whether this is the kind of material he was after, hmmmm.

Anyway, in a shameless attempt to recruit more international traffic i decided to name this topic after harmless things that might provoke such google searches....lets see what happens! And to be fair last night was a little messy and i don't really think there are any words to describe the videos i'm about to post...lets just say Adam had a shocker...must have been the Whisky my mother gave him beforehand.

Stockport Beer and Cider Festival 2009

Wow where do i begin. This occasion at Edgeley Park, home of the mighty Stockport County, has a lot of strange allure, its good fun but it shouldn't be.

We went down not expecting a lot, and boy were we not disappointed. The drinks were disgusting, actually, disgusting. There is a reason you can't buy them outside of Somerset... We drunk a 10.3% stout called 'Ring of Fire' (its made with chillies) and nearly vomited...the cider while tasting okay, smelt like Adams sock after a hard spin class...the 'Rest in Peace' strong beer and 'Outstanding Blond' weak beer were equally disturbing.

Despite this we had a great time and want to go again! I actually cannot tell you why...

The Blind Side

I have been reading a book by Michael Lewis called "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game". I wanted to share this because as most will know I follow American Football and it is a passion of mine.

This book charters the story of Michael Oher (pronounced 'oar'), who went from a 7 year old child of a drug addict mother who had no home to a 22 year old man, who in the next week is about to enter the National Football League (NFL), and a massive payday of around $20,000,000. This is a Hollywood fairytale, one that actually occurred.

When he first started at Briarcrest High School aged 16 he had a 0.4 GPA (around Year 3 intelligence in the UK) and nobody thought he would amount to anything. In the last few months he graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree is Criminal Justice and a job as an Offensive Lineman in the NFL on millions of dollars.
